Starting in 2005 we spent two years restoring this one hundred year old house. The Lewis family history performs a strong role in the history of Collingwood and Golden Bay. Their former home is extremely unusual for being two storey villa style, right on the beach. This is guest accommodation of the highest standard, facing north-east, the house enjoys exquisite sunrises and sunsets. And in the evening, the moon rises out of the sea. Being here at full moon can be quite special. Verandas on both storeys allow you to enjoy the views, while evening sun fills the deck courtyard at the rear. Although the beachfront location is dramatic there is much more to Collingwood and Golden Bay. Bounded by two national parks, Kahurangi and Abel Tasman, the area boasts fishing, tramping and kayaking. Farewell Spit is the largest sand spit in the world and a wetlands of international importance, it's a must see. There are many artists working from their home studios, especially in ceramics, and it's easy to drop in and take a look.
